Elated to work with Nagathihalli
Actress Manvitha Kamath talks about her upcoming film, India vs England and her Marathi debut, Rajasthan Diaries.
She started as a radio jockey in her hometown in Mangaluru. A passionate artiste, Manvitha Kamath later tread an interesting journey on the silver screen with Kendasampige followed by several interesting roles including that of her popular ones in Tagaru, Chowka and many more. Her upcoming film India vs England, is directed by the renowned writer and filmmaker Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar.
Manvitha is also making her Marathi debut with Rajasthan Diaries. It is going to be released in Kannada with plans to dub it in Telugu and Hindi too. Bengaluru Chronicle speaks to the actress who at present is wrapping up the final schedule of her Marathi film on the deserts of Rajasthan.
“Just like the unique title India vs England with the tagline which clarifies that it has nothing to with cricket, it has an interesting plot. All of Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar sir’s ventures are not just unique but offers a fresh perspective in terms of creativity and presentation on the screen. This film is mainly set in England. In fact, 50 per cent of the shooting was in England and the rest of it was shot across India,” says Manvitha.
The story has been penned by Nagathihalli’s daughter Kanasu.
Manvitha reveals that she met the director was through her guru Na Damodar Shetty, a veteran Kannada writer and Nagathihalli’s best friend. Her performance in Kendasampige led her bagging the lead role in India vs England.
“It is definitely worth the wait to work with such a prolific filmmaker. Three best cinematographers have worked in the film and hence every scene looks beautiful. When the making is as attractive as the content, it is bound to do well. I even had the opportunity to share screen space with one of the most handsome heroes of Sandalwood — Anant Nag Sir. I play his granddaughter in the film,” she adds.
Manvitha plays Medhini, who is the granddaughter of a gemologist settled in Britain. “The film was screened a few days ago in England and I have plenty of personal messages for my work and the chemistry I share with the character played by Anant Nag Sir. I usually do not get carried away by appreciation but when he patted my back appreciating my work while shooting, it took me three days to recover. It is something that I will cherish forever for having been appreciated by an artiste like Anant Nag Sir,”she says/
After having shot for Rajasthan Diaries under the scorching sun, Manvitha says that she was badly tanned for six months. The film is directed by Nanditha Yadav. She also recollects having shot along with Prakash Belawadi and Sumalatha Ambareesh, the two finest in the field. “Prakash sir and I share a unique bond. We talk about world cinema. He is a well read person, who has a vast knowledge of many things,” says Manvitha, adding that she is not in a hurry and only wants to take up only ‘exclusive’ role instead of comprising on quality for monetary gains like she did in the past.
