Creating a Nish'e for herself

She is a rarity, in that she bagged three films even before her debut venture hit the screens! A trained Bharatanatyam dancer for over 15 years, she is the new sensation in Sandalwood who has three big projects in her kitty, including one made under the prestigious Dwarakish Chitra banner for its 51st production titled Amma I Love You, and her latest Paddehuli which marks the debut of Shreyas, the son of leading Kannada film producer K Manju. That apart, she has completed the shoot for her debut film Vaasu Naan Pakka Commercial starring alongside Anish Tejeswar. Actress Nishvika Naidu speaks to Bengaluru Chronicle on her dream run onto the silver screen, and more.

Born and brought up in namma Bengaluru, a student of Mount Carmel College where she pursued her graduation in psychology, she is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. “I have been practicing Bharatanatyam dance for over 15 years even though I always wanted to become an actress. In fact, dance inspired me to explore my skills as an actress. Soon after my graduation, I headed to Mumbai to learn the basics of art and got enrolled at a prestigious acting schools — Barry John. After a year in Mumbai, I was fortunate to make it through my debut Kannada movie Vaasu Naan Pakka Commercial, says Nishvika Naidu. While the actress reveals that she was hoping to bag her second film after the release of her first film, she was fortunate that it happened to her soon, but she had to prove her talent before eventually being a part of it.

“I was very nervous, just like any actress starting out. As I was awaiting the release of my debut movie, hoping that it would lead me to my second film, Yogish Sir called me for the audition of the film Amma I Love You. I auditioned for the same role thrice before I was finalised. Even in the case of Paddehuli, I felt satisfied that I had earned the films because none of them had watched my debut performance yet as my film was yet to release,” she adds.

Prior to taking up films, she stayed in Mumbai for a year, learning the craft of acting was a turning point in her life. “I was born and brought up in Bengaluru, going to Mumbai, and staying all by myself was a challenge. Though initially, I faced problems coping with the fast-paced life, and communicating with new people, soon I adjusted to it. My teachers were very supportive and I ended up teaching them Kannada as they were excited to learn about our language and culture,” Nishvika adds.

The actress feels that being a Kannadathi with a fluency in the local language helped her bag films. “Apart from my performance, I was chosen for my fluency in Kannada,” she says. In her debut movie, she plays a medical student who is stubborn and chirpy and in Amma I Love You, she plays a subtle role of a girl who helps the needy in an emotional saga, and finally in the youthful subject Paddehuli, Nishvika essays a girl-next-door character. While her family is excited about her filmi career with such a fortuitous beginning, she says that they just can’t wait for her films to release. “I am equally excited about which ones will finally get released. So far, I have been enjoying the journey, and travelling around during breaks. I hope my hard works leads to more and more good work in future,” she signs off.
