A pretty cool PANDIT!
In an exclusive interview, one of Sandalwood's top stars, Radhika Pandit talks about her back-to-back releases and more in this candid chat.
She is touted as one of the top three Sandalwood actresses currently. Radhika Pandit, who is set to return with back-to-back releases in the coming weeks, is zooming ahead with big projects. She has Suri’s Dodmane Huduga alongside Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar, and another venture with Rocking Star Yash, a K Manju production. “Apart from Endendigu, none of my films got released for a while, due to delays in shooting and other technical reasons, which is totally beyond the control of an actor.
However, 2016 will see most of my films releasing, starting with Zoom which is tentatively scheduled for release in April and then Dodmane Huduga which might release during the Varamahalakshmi festival,” says Radhika.
That apart she has recently signed yet another project alongside Yash, which she says is different and refreshing. On delivering successful films regularly, Radhika says, “Yes, it is always a conscious effort to do quality work without worrying about whether the films involve stars or newcomers. Working with senior and star actors is always a positive and more satisfactory experience, but I have always stressed upon the quality of the script. For me, work is worship, and it is not just the number of movies I make, but the quality which matters most, irrespective of how they eventually fare at the box office.”
In Zoom, Radhika will be seen with a new hair style, she says, “For Zoom, as the script demanded it, I opted for a shorter hair-style, as I play the character of a modern girl who is self-made. The other highlight is that I have sung a song for the first time. I am very excited about my singing debut.”
In Dodamane Huduga, Radhika plays a role with dual characters. “Apart from all the aura of acting alongside Puneeth, it was great working with veterans — Ambareesh Sir, Sumalatha and Bharathi Vishnuvardhan madam. I learnt so much as an actor, and enjoyed working for Suri yet again as he creates wonderful characters, for instance Kaddipudi, in the past.
Meanwhile, the busy actress has fallen in love too. And no, it’s not cupid but something else entirely. She has found a passion for baking and it also helps her unwind. “It might sound strange coming from someone involved in the glam world and acting profession as baking and acting are two different extremes. Moreover, an actress needs to stay fit and any baking goodie is surely not the daily diet routine. I do not know how I developed the interest for baking. If I am not shooting, I head back home and start baking my favourite cakes and cookies. After my birthday, everything seems to be on the right path and I wish for a great year ahead,” she signs off.
