BOS'PHORUS of cruises!
Sandalwood star Sharmiela Mandre who has acted in Swayamvara and Dhan Dhana Dhan travelled to Istanbul recently. She shared her experience.
1 What I loved the most about Istanbul was that despite being so archaic, having it’s own history and culture, it has a very modern touch to it
2 The Bosphorus Cruise is one of the most overlooked tourist attractions but it was the most amazing experience as the cruise takes you to the sea which separates Europe from Asia. So on one side, you can see Europe and on the other, Asia. It was by far, the most memorable of experiences.
3 Taksim Square, which is in the heart of the city is filled with street stores and authentic Turkish food which is to die for, especially for people who have an Indian palette thanks to their slew of spices. Their seafood is amazing too, and they also have the largest and most delicious almonds!
4 Turkey is certainly a very magical place and the Grand Bazaar made me feel like I was a part of the Arabian Nights, with thick and colourful carpets, shawls and jackets being sold by people dressed in their authentic Turkish attire!
5 As for the people who love to party, Istanbul also has a great nightlife! Their restobars have amazing views and overlook the sea which makes it a great place to party! The baklava and Turkish tea, are one of a kind and should not be missed.
