Actress Shraddha Srinath’s big announcement yesterday sent Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar’s fans into an excited frenzy, as the artiste announced that she will be doing Thala’s next film AK-59. A remake of the Hindi film Pink, Shraddha will be seen reprising the role played by Taapsee Pannu in the original movie. The film, which is being produced by Boney Kapoor, will also see the uber talented Vidya Balan making her Tamil debut.

An elated Shraddha says, “The makers got in touch with me and thought I’d fit the part. I went to Chennai as they wanted to see me in person, and asked me to test for one scene. Post that, there was not much communication, but after a few weeks, they called and asked me to do a look test for a more intense scene.

Immediately after the test, the director (H. Vinoth) gave me the green signal.” While there were leaked rumours about the cast of the movie, Shraddha was being bombarded with calls about the film. “I had to keep mum for so long and I finally revealed it yesterday when the official announcement was made,” she smiles.

While she still hasn’t met Ajith, Shraddha is super kicked about the soon-to-happen rendezvous with the star. “Everyone I’ve met talks really highly of him. I’ve heard that he’s very easy to get along with, he will go out of his way to keep everyone on the sets comfortable, and he also gets food from his house (for all).

He’s supposed to be very sweet and this is something that’s required for the camaraderie between two actors. It is a huge project for me because he’s such a superstar and also, I have a lot of potential to perform in this film,” she shares.

Her parents are undoubtedly proud of her, and she reveals that while her folks have seen Pink, she hasn’t and she intends to keep it that way. “I remember I was doing something in my room when Pink was on TV — I heard some noise and went there only to see the scene of Taapsee being molested. It angered me so much and made me so sick. I’m glad I haven’t seen the film as this way, I get to do something that’s completely mine. I don’t want to watch it as this role requires the realest of emotions I can possibly bring to it. Besides, Taapsee has done it so well that if I watch it, I might end up doing what she did,” says the actor, whose other projects include Rustom and Godhrain Kannada, Milan Talkies in Hindi, Jersey in Telugu and K-13 and Maara in Tamil.
