“Sukumar went through the screenplay couple of times and rewrote it few more times to plug out the loopholes, if any before going into the sets with confidence,” he adds.

He was carrying the same perfectionism even onto the sets and wasn’t satisfied with few a shots and scenes. “He re-shot some scenes and was also taking more time to shoot key sequences. In fact, he was wrapping up shooting after canning one scene even though there were four scenes scheduled for the day. It was turning a bit tense on the sets but everyone co-operated including superstar Allu Arjun to live up the expectations of the director and support his big vision,” he points out.

The director believed that the film would gross more Rs 1000 crores worldwide riding on the massive success of ‘Pushpa1’. “The team was confident that the film would be the next Rs 1000 crore grosser in Indian cinema and it would surpass the records of SRK’s ‘Pathan’ and others since Allu Arjun’s swag, performance and stylish dancing made him the darling of Hindi film viewers along with Tamil and Malayalam fans," he adds.

For instance, the team discussed names of Jhanvi Kapoor and Tripti Dimri for the sensational number like 'Oo Antava. in the sequel. "But the director kept his cards close to his chest since he wanted a much bigger name for the swashbuckling special song, so he was taking time. Similarly, he wanted the best for everything and producers didn't mind deferring the release, rather than putting pressure on the director since they know that he can deliver a blockbuster across the world," he concludes.
