Nakuul Mehta isn't keen on Bollywood projects
Nakuul understands the power of television and he isn't ready to trade it for the big screen.
This year, a host of television stars have made their foray into Bollywood. Gurmeet Choudhary and Sharad Malhotra are a few personalities who were seen on the big screen this year. At a time when most television actors are making a beeline to venture into Bollywood, Nakuul Mehta has no such plans. “I am possibly the only TV actor who is not dying to do films,” he jokes when asked if he is open to the idea of trying his luck again. He was previously seen in the 2008 film, Haal-e-Dil.
Nakuul understands the power of television and he isn’t ready to trade it for the big screen. He says, “I am not lured by Bollywood. I understand the reach the television has. Even if it is not a great show, people are still watching you come what may. I don’t want to run away from this try and do something, which may or may not work for me.”
Even though the actor is not playing a conventional hero in his current show Ishqbaaz, he is encouraged by the feedback he is receiving for his act. “A lot of people are shocked to see a very different image of mine in my show but I am happy about it. As an actor, I don’t want to play the lover boy time and again. It’s very easy for me to essay those roles — I have done it for years. Luckily I have options and very seldom do actors get the kind of choices that I have,” explains Nakuul.
The actor has a successful career graph but he isn’t the one to sit on his laurels. He shares, “On television if your show does well, it’s easy to sit back and enjoy the benefits but I don’t quite like that thought. I have already produced my first web series and I made money on it. But the idea is to do different things. Even if I fail it’s fine, but I want to be the one who is trying.”
