Mumbai: If sources are to be believed, Sphere Origins fiction series Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani that has popular stars Drashti Dhami and Siddhanth Karnick
in leading roles, has come under the scanner owing to dismal ratings.

The show, that started on a grand scale with its opulent sets and stellar star-cast, has so far failed to deliver and the channel is mulling over taking it off air in March, reveals a source attached to the show.

Commenting further on the development, the source adds, “It’s a sorry story for the show. Investment is huge  and the production house has tried every trick in the book to improve the ratings but nothing has worked so far in the show’s favour. Actors are putting in their best and are a disappointed lot. Turns out that their larger than life characters haven’t been able to strike a chord with the audience.

Taking into consideration all these factors, the channel has no other option but to take the extreme step. Discussions are still on, if things don’t improve the show will most likely go off air in March.”

When contacted, lead actor of the show Siddhanth Karnick said, “Yes, I have heard the buzz. It’s very shocking. Hope it’s not true. We are putting in a lot of hard work and feel very dejected when we hear some thing like this”
He continues, “The show means the world to me. The character of Ranaji has given me a rare opportunity to explore many shades. The whole set up out here is  wonderful, be it the co-stars or the crew. I am praying the show runs for a long, long time, fingers crossed.”

Despite repeated calls, leading lady Drashti Dhami remained unavailable for comments.
