Kunwar Amar’s entry into Naamkarann has pushed the show’s ratings up from 1.8 to 2.3 in just a week, and the feat has obviously not gone unnoticed. The euphoria is evident on the sets and the entire unit has been talking about how the youngster seems set on changing the fortune of the show. While Amar is basking in the glory of the laurels, the show’s leading man, Viraf Patel seems to be getting a little insecure about the young actor’s presence on the show, says a source.

Elaborating on the development, the source adds, “The masses were having difficulties in accepting Viraf’s character as it is because he’s showed as being weak. And now, with Amar’s entry, the actor finds himself in added woes. It’s unbelievable how Amar has pushed the ratings upwards. The makers are very happy with him and they’re making it obvious. Viraf, on the other hand, wasn’t able to deliver, as far as ratings are concerned. So, it’s pretty natural that he’s feeling a little insecure with Amar coming into the picture.”

On his part, Viraf says, “You need to feel secure first to feel insecure, right? It would be unfair for me to believe the show is getting ratings or not because of me. Amar has so much energy in him. If it’s in the interest of the show, then so be it. I’m not bigger than the show. Everything can’t work around me. As it is, it’s so difficult to make a show work. I think Amar’s character is an attempt in that direction. It’s very heartening to see someone bringing in the viewership. Ultimately, we all are working towards that. In fact I am very fond of the guy. I see a part of me in him. Like me, he is also a small town guy. I wish him all the success.”

When contacted, Amar added, “I could feel they were expecting a lot from me. They wanted my entry to work, and luckily, it has. I’m encouraged by the ratings. When I entered, I had the responsibility of taking the show ahead on me. I’m so glad I’ve managed to get it done. When you get ratings, you feel you have done justice to your character. As far as Viraf’s insecurity is concerned, I have never got these vibes from him. In fact, he has always been nice to me. He is humble and positive on the sets, and makes everyone feel comfortable. Believe me, I have never noticed anything of the sort. When he saw the episode, he hugged me and said that I’ve done a great job. I don’t know why people feel that way.”
