Sayantani Ghosh has made it a ritual to visit her home town Kolkata every year, for Durga Puja celebrations. Since the actress is an ardent devotee of Maa Durga, the actress takes time off to visit Kolkata to partake in the Durga Ashtami celebrations. However, this time, Sayantani has had to make an exception, since she is busy shooting for the show, Naamkarann. Her schedule does not permit her to take a breather for a few days.

It has been a tradition of sorts for the actress to perform the puja with her family, and seek the goddess’ blessings. The actress even goes pandal hopping to pay her respects to the Goddess when she is in her hometown.

The actress has organised a small puja at home instead. When we contacted her, she said, “I always prioritise work before everything else. Naamkarann is a very important project for me. The storyline needs commitment from its actors. We don’t have enough episodes in the bank, so we don’t have the luxury of taking breaks. So, I had to give up on travelling to Kolkata for the festival.”

But the actress has made plans to celebrate the festival here. She shares, “I have decided to perform the Durga puja at home. I pray to Devi Maa every day and make different delicacies in her honour. I even fast during the nine days of the festival. I like to keep my cultural roots intact.”
