Chaos at Chandrakanta launch
The press almost decided to ban the event if it wasn't for the intervention of Raj Nayak, the CEO of Viacom 18.
Chandrakanta, television’s new classic drama from Balaji, almost witnessed a media walk out because of czarina Ekta Kapoor. The media were made to wait for her arrival for nearly three hours before a Colors PR team member decided to address the antsy crowd.
Amid all the stress of waiting and the lack of information, the PR team stating that the press was free to go if they wished, riled them further.
The press almost decided to ban the event if it wasn’t for the intervention of Raj Nayak, the CEO of Viacom 18. “We are extremely sorry for the delay. We will begin the show within just ten minutes,” he said to calm the crowd. He then decided to continue in Ekta’s absence. “There are a few shows which have already been showcased on television. However, we are trying to present our version of Chandrakanta differently. The audience will have to watch the show and decide,” Raj added.
Ekta eventually did reach the venue. However, she did not enter in nor did she interact with the media. She made her way to a vanity van where she had brief discussions with Raj. She then met the star cast, after which she zoomed off in her car.
For someone who swears by the Vedic sciences of astrology and numerology, was the launch of the show in her absence a bad omen? Or was it a calculated move? We’ll wait for Ekta to answer that.
