Sakshi Tanwar: From TV to films and now, the web
Although Dangal isn't her first film, it is the first big banner film that the actress will be seen in opposite Aamir Khan, nevertheless.
Sakshi Tanwar, a household television name has made the shift to the big screen. Although Dangal isn’t her first film, it is the first big banner film that the actress will be seen in—opposite Aamir Khan, nevertheless. Did she have inhibitions playing a mother of two grown-up girls onscreen? The question is amusing to Sakshi. Laughing aloud she says, “Why will I have any inhibitions playing a mother’s role? All my life I have played the roles of nanis and dadis! I only desire to be playing characters which bring satisfaction to me and a smile on the faces of my fans.”
Despite the name that she has earned on the small screen, Sakshi admits she wasn’t confident about bagging this big role. “When I was called for auditions, I kept thinking, ‘what next’? Only after I got a call saying I’d been roped in did I believe this was happening.” Interestingly, the word got out much faster than Sakshi thought. “My friends were upset with me for not telling them that I was doing a film with Aamir. I had to tell them that I got to know just two days ago!”
Web series with Ram Kapoor in the works
Sakshi will also soon be seen in finite Balaji web series comprising 14 episodes, where she will act alongside Ram Kapoor. Ram and Sakshi’s pair became very popular onscreen when they played husband-wife in the hugely popular show Bade Acche Lagte Hai. Tight-lipped about the project so far, the actress said, “Our fans will really feel happy. Our jodi has been liked by all our fans and this web series will surely be a treat to all of them.”
A source, however, shared the plot by saying, “Ram Kapoor plays a divorcee with kids, who works in the entertainment field. Sakshi plays his counsellor, who is trying to help him get rid of his alcohol addiction.”
