I was desperate to play Maloy, says Vin Rana
When the actor finally decided to shift base back to India, he knew there would be no dearth of good offers for him.
After making quite an impression as Nakul in the mythological show, Mahabharat, Vin Rana spent a substantial period away in Indonesia working on television projects. When the actor finally decided to shift base back to India, he knew there would be no dearth of good offers for him. “It wasn’t my overconfidence that brought me back to India. As an actor, I believed that work would come to me.”
Call it a stroke of luck or just plain coincidence; Vin was indeed right. He will finally be seen in the newly- launched show, Vishkanya. He says, “I got lot of offers but I was waiting for the right show. I wanted to do something different.
Luckily Nisar Sir (the producer) approached me for Vishkanya and I readily took it up. My character Maloy Mittal is spookily similar to my personality. It’s like I am actually playing myself on the show! What more I could ask for?” says Vin. Even though the actor fit the role perfectly, he was made to go through several auditions before being finally selected.
He admits, “I was very keen on doing the role so I happily flew from Delhi to Mumbai when they called me. They were even happy with the audition. They requested me to come again and I obliged without fussing about it. This went on for some time. In fact, before I could sign this up, I ended up shuttling between the two cities eight times in just ten days.
No actor would have done this but I was desperate to play Maloy and so I didn’t mind all the trouble they made me go through.” This is the first time Vin will be playing the leading man and being more popular than the leading lady, Aishwarya Khare, the responsibility of carrying the show will solely rest on his shoulders. He says, “Yes, there is pressure of proving myself as the lead. My producers have shown faith in me and I have to live up to their expectations.”
