Enjoying success on a high note
Indian Idol Junior 1 winner Anjana talks to DC about her musical career.
“Even before Indian Idol happened, I had participated in Super Singer Junior at the age of 8. I came till the top 7 and then I was eliminated”, explains Anjana.
She had participated in Indian Idol through her school and got through the auditions. She never expected to win the title and feels that the show was her stepping stone into music.
“I gained a lot of confidence from the show. My intention of participating in the show was to learn and to get experience and winning was not the reason why I participated”, adds Anjana.
After winning at Indian Idol, Anjana started doing shows in India and also in foreign countries for tours and concerts.
Recently, Anjana made her Kannada debut for the movie called Ondh Kathe Hella and also for Kannada dubbed movie Oru adaar love.
“Singing film music was a completely different experience and I loved it”, she says. She feels she was motivated by her parents to pursue music. Initially Anjana was very shy to sing in front of everyone. So, thats when her parents sent a recorded song to the Super Singer team during the audition.
“Super singer was a very good experience because that’s when I learned what singing is all about,” says Anjana. She faced a language difficulty during Indian Idol since it was in Hindi and Super Singer was in Tamil.
Anjana also handled a youtube channel for music during her initial days when she was uploading her regular singing videos. She has been collaborating recently with the Grammy award winner Ricky Kej and has also sung in Hindi and Konkani language.
“I hope to be a good singer in the future. After my schooling I’m planning to take the next step”, concludes Anjana.
