In hope of a Golden Age
The students of Delhi Public School bring in a sense of optimism for the Independence week with this play.
August is here and the Independence Day festivities are catching on! “Hoga Kal Sunehra!” produced by Imbroglio Productions will be bringing a brand new Hindi musical to the city. This drama musical takes a leaf from the visionary India and embraces the country’s diverse and astonishing culture. The modernisation that followed India’s colonisation has caused us to lose much of our charm. Time and again, we have all pondered upon how different the times are and the fast pace we live in. This bunch of students will remind us of a paradise nation that India was and could be, through song dance and a bit of drama!
The theme of creating a Golden India as Divyesh Bhandari, the show director says, “The vision that we have is of a country where there is no sorrow, complete peace and prosperity. The concept of the show revolves around how we can make India sunehra or golden again. We know what India was like and the musical will touch upon how it has become what it has. Vibrant folktales from all across the county have been weaved into one show. ” The musical will be presented by 130, vibrant students of Delhi Public School, Bengaluru with folk songs and tales from different lands.
Inspite of this being a utopian concept, Divyesh tells how the two-and-a-half month-long production has taught each of these students that being the change themselves can make all the difference to their world. “These kids believe and embrace the fact that if each of them can change individually, then the world around them can change too. That itself is the start of a golden era, individually and for the society. This show is a celebration and an invocation, much like a prayer, hoping for a new era,” he says.
Students of Delhi Public School went through a rigorous round of auditions before 130 youngsters between the ages of 12 and 16 were chosen to be a part of the show, which will be aired on television on the country’s Independence Day. “These kids understand how important this show is to the people of Bengaluru. Since this will be reaching a national audience, the discipline, hardwork and commitment they have shown is commendable!”
A lot of the music for this show has been specially written and composed, including Folk, Hindustani and classical music, keeping in mind the acts of several patriots who fought for the independence that we have now. Hoga Kal Sunehra! will be broadcast on the Independence Day, on national channels like DD National, DD Bharati and DD India, right after the Prime Minister’s address. Hoga Kal Sunehra! will be presented at the Good Shepherd Auditorium on August 5 at 2.30 and 6.30 pm.
