It's a 100th for Mantra's Piya Behrupia'
The play is now all set to stage it's 100th show and Mantra is obviously thrilled to be a part of it.
Mumbai: Well, we all know that the extremely talented and versatile actor Mantra has varied interests, and theatre undoubtedly tops the list.
Mantra has been associated with theatre even before he became a screen actor and television host and has been part of many popular plays. Currently, the actor is playing King Orsino in Piya Behrupia.
Piya Behrupia is a musical adaptation in Hindi of Twelfth Night, one of William Shakespeare's best known romantic comedies. Commissioned for The Globe to Globe Festival, which took place at the Globe theatre in London earlier this year, the play, directed by Atul Kumar of The Company Theatre, is a full-throttled take on its original.
The play, which has been loved by people across the globe, is now all set to stage it’s 100th show and Mantra is obviously thrilled to be a part of it. “I have traveled the world with Piya Behrupiya. As an actor, I could not have asked for more. To perform at historic and legendary stages, to have been able to perform for a world audience, and to have been able to work with a director from whom I still have so much to learn from… it’s a big thing,” says Mantra.
The actor who is balancing theatre, cinema and television simultaneous adds, “I am neck deep in my TV schedule. With ‘Pro kabaddi’ and ‘Sab Khelo Sab Jeetto’ happening, I am literally living out of a suitcase, but no matter what, I couldn’t have missed out on the opportunity to perform my favourite character from the play at Prithvi theatre in Mumbai, which is home to this play.”
Now that’s what is called living with passion.
