Three stand-ups to rev up the laughs

Chennai’s old comedy show ‘Put Chutney’ being a digital brand of Culture Machine is back with a new live stand-up show by the trio of comedians. The funny minds behind the 2015 viral YouTube sensations, ‘What if Batman was from Chennai?’ and ‘South India 101 - Banana Leaf’ are going to stage their stand-up roots to deliver the experience with their quirky tongue in the cheek humour.

The show is featuring not only one, not two but three stand-up comedians who come with a diverse upbringing and perspective.

On the first stand, the man from Madurai, Rajiv Rajaram who is familiar baritone voice coupled with his observational humour is going to perform. “We plan to share the views of the three performers — autobiographical in nature, narrate all the interesting episodes that taken place in our lives, personal experiences and how we view the world with all its absurdities,” Rajiv Rajaram said. 

To him, comedy makes life bearable and worth living. As a genre, Comedy has the ability to break barriers and basically make people take themselves less seriously, as we are living only one life.

Balakumaran, famously known as ‘Blah Kumaran’ is a former software engineer turned stand-up comedian, and a full-time writer. “We plan to speak about how every ad that sells women’s products and trying to empower women so that they can sell products. I also touch upon ‘Tamil dubbed’ ads and the language spoken in them,” shared Bala while speaking on today’s fun-feature plan.

Aswin Rao, the ‘south’s take on love’ came out with excitement on being live again in Chennai. “I am going to focus on talking a little slower so people get all my jokes. I am known to be a motor mouth,” he added.
