Devi Sri Prasad's tribute to his guru Mandolin Srinivas
He will also be releasing a music video along with this song that shows rare clippings of Mandolin Srinivas.
Music director Devi Sri Prasad will be paying tribute to his guru Mandolin Srinivas by launching a song called Gurave Namaha — a tribute to Mandolin Srinivas. The maestro, who passed away in 2014, was the first top musician of South cinema. The song was sung and composed by DSP and the lyrics are written by Jonnavithula in Sanskrit. “The Greatness of a Guru cannot be expressed in words. So, I tried to express it through music,” says DSP and adds that he composed the song in Keeravani Raaga, one of the guru’s favorites.
“Each of the seven notes explains the divine quality of my guru. I wanted this song to be in Sanskrit to make it more musical and universal, so I approached Jonnavithula garu and he wrote beautiful lyrics,” says Devi Sri Prasad.
He will also be releasing a music video along with this song that shows rare clippings of Mandolin Srinivas.
DSP is also planning to organise a tribute concert for Mandolin titled The Great Mandolin featuring musicians like Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Sivamani, Mandolin U Rajesh and others.
