Despite the worries caused by the second wave of COVID-19, Payal Rajput recently completed one schedule of shooting for a Punjabi film. “Getting an opportunity during the pandemic is a great thing,” she tells us.

Isn’t she afraid of the deadly virus, we ask. “Yes, of course I am,” she replies. “I know the situation is very bad, but at the same time, I have been waiting for a long time to do a new project. And when the opportunity came, and that too, a Punjabi film, I couldn’t resist it.”

Payal stresses that all COVID-19 protocols were followed during the shoot. Apparently, the makers of the film shot at locations where COVID-19 cases were low. “I was accommodated in a hotel at a village on the outskirts of Chandigarh, along with a limited crew of around 40 members,” she reveals.

“I just did one film the whole of last year. As actors, the real high we get is when we are on the sets,” she shares. Talking about the prevailing situation, the actress tells us, “Last year was so stressful, watching the heart-wrenching scenes of migrant labourers in difficulties. This time I am trying to meditate and practise yoga. But the best way to beat stress is to work.”

“Last time I was scared and panicked, but this time I am quite prepared on how to approach the second wave,” she says. Revealing that many of her friends and extended family in Mumbai were affected by COVID-19, Payal says she had cancelled her mother’s trip to attend the Kumbh Mela, in view of the pandemic situation.

Saying that she would soon arrange for her parents to be vaccinated, she urged people not to step outside their homes unless it was absolutely necessary.
