Mehreen Kaur is one of the first actresses to begin shooting since the second wave of the pandemic hit the country. She has commenced work on Manchi Rojulu Vacchayi. True to the title, the actress says the good days are back!

“I have been craving to come to the sets and work,” Mehreen says, adding that dealing with boredom was a challenge for her. She feels nothing can excite an actor more than being on the sets and  is grateful that she has been getting opportunities to work during the pandemic too.

“Following all the Covid-19 norms, we commenced shooting at 6 a.m., and would pack up at noon, since the lockdown started at 2 p.m., she says, recalling the initial days of work.  “Gradually, as the lockdown timings were relaxed, we started shooting during the nights too,” she says.

Interestingly, she says, when she began shooting, several actresses were surprised and messaged her. “I think it was my love for the script that made me start shooting. I think this pandemic taught us to value simple things in life and not to take them for granted,” Mehreen shares.

The entire film was shot at a single location, and Mehreen says this is the first time she has worked in this way. A set was constructed on the city’s outskirts, and the film was wrapped up in 30 days.

“On the first day of the shoot, I felt like my sanity had come back. I would have gone crazy had I still been at home,” the Raja the Great actress says with a smile, and adds that this has been her longest break from work since she began acting. “I was energised, and I felt like I was shooting for my first film.” she reveals.

The film directed by Maruti is set against the backdrop of the pandemic, and Mehreen will be seen as a working girl trying to strike a fine balance between being a good daughter and pursuing her love interest. She’s also excited about resuming shooting for F3, from Friday.

“I can’t wait to catch up with my F3 unit members,” she says, adding that the script is compact and fun-centric. Mehreen, who took her first shot of the Covid vaccination (and got her entire staff vaccinated too) a couple of days ago, had earlier tested positive for the disease. “After I recovered from Covid-19, I hit the gym and lost some weight. So people will get to see a new version of Mehreen,” she promises.

A rank outsider, Mehreen debuted in Telugu with Krishnagadi Veera Prema Gaadha in 2016. Looking back at her journey, she says she is satisfied with the roles and scripts that came her way.
