Ace rib-tickler Brahmanandam is back
The industry has not found a replacement for his incredible talent, although there are many comedians like Vennela Kishore, and Hyper Aadi.
Leading comedian Brahmanandam could be banking on his next release ‘Keeda Kola’ to bounce back into the reckoning. Even though his scintillating performance in ‘Rangamarthanda’ received huge critical acclaim he couldn't save the family drama from crashing at the box office. "Undeniably, Brahmanandam has been the top comedian in the Telugu film industry for more than three decades and has left the audience in splits in hundreds of movies with his impeccable comic timing and funny one-liners to steal the show under the nose of superstars," says a producer, who claims that industry has not found a replacement for his incredible talent, although there are many comedians like Vennela Kishore, Priyadarshi, Rahul Ramakrishna and Hyper Aadi who are ruling the roost.
He further claims that new generation rib-ticklers do evoke a few laughs in theatres but viewers don’t carry their jokes and antics to their homes. Hence, they have to go a long way to come anywhere closer to Brahmi. "These comedians are managing instant laughs but Brahmanandam’s expressions, quirky dialogues, and his antics are everlasting and cherishable. His performances have become good material for memers and he is ruling the roost on social media too. He did wonderful comic-driven roles and the entire film revolved around his character and at times he drew more claps than superstars. Stars used to wait for his dates since special comedy track of Brahmi was always a crowd puller and he became a darling for Telugu audiences world over for over three decades”, he points out.
For instance, his role in the laugh-riot ‘Dhee’ almost re-invented him and pushed his career a few notches up. His memorable funny roles in star-studded films like “Ready”,‘Dhookudu’, ‘Badshah’, ‘Adhurs’, and many others vouch for his talent and versatility. "Kona Venkat designed superlative roles for Brahmanandam and he utilized this opportunity with swashbuckling fun roles. He even breathed life into relatively smaller films like 'Geetanjali' and 'Dongata' with his flair for comedy to be hailed as the numero uno comedian in Tollywood forever," he concludes.
