Achanta Gopi unwilling to join rat race
Leading producer Achanta Gopi of 14 Reels Plus claims they haven’t slowed down, rather they are working on stories and once they get ready, they will be launching them. They have pinned hopes on their upcoming cop story with Bellamkonda Srinivas, while he terms digital rights income as a good value addition in a chit-chat with Deccan Chronicle.
Q: Why has your production house slowed down, while others are racing ahead?
A: I don’t think we have slowed down, rather we are working on scripts. Once they are ready, we will be launching them. And also we are not in a kind of rat race and do not intend to compete with others. We have always worked at our own pace and time after getting the right star and director.
Q: We heard that rates for Hindi dubbing and digital rights have fallen?
A: It all depends on how a particular film generates hype and draws attention. No doubt, star-studded movies are bound to get their price, due the hype and hoopla they generate. While content-based films have to prove their worth in theatres before closing digital deals.
With some Telugu movies doing well all over, the rates of Hindi dubbing rights and digital rights have actually gone up and are helping Telugu producers to churn out lavish entertainers without compromising.
Q: Your upcoming film with Bellamkonda Srinivas and director Sagar K Chandra is billed to be a cop drama?
A: It is a cop drama but it will be more gripping and realistic, over other police stories. It will also have patriotic zeal blended into the script. It will enhance the action image of Bellamkanda Srinivas, while director Sagar has woven a captivating story. We haven’t finalized the title, though we know that some titles like ‘Tyson Naidu’ are making rounds.
Q: Have a few flops forced you to take a back step?
A: Not at all because hits and flops are part of the filmmaking business. We have seen the highs after delivering smashing hits and lows after flops. But our spirits and zeal are intact and we are raring to go like in the past. In fact, we are going to announce a new movie this month and follow it up with more.
