While everyone around the world has been talking about Hollywood's Harvey Weinstein and the number of victims he has sexually assaulted over the years, actress Nikesha Patel says Tollywood is no better. “After everyone began accusing Harvey, my father called me and asked if these things exist in Tollywood and I did not have an answer. In fact, I do not see any difference between Hollywood and Tollywood when it comes to sexual abuse. When you are struggling, you will meet many unprofessional people. Sometimes they are women too. Only if you are established, such people will not come in your way,” shares Nikesha.

She points out that a lot of times actresses also throw themselves at men to get film offers. “Everyone comes to the industry with huge dreams. Even after you do a good movie, some actresses stop taking up offers because of unprofessional people. Actresses need to be respected, because at the end of the day, people watch movies because of women,” she says. Talking about the prejudices that actresses constantly face, Nikesha shares an anecdote from her personal life and reveals that her ex-boyfriend left her because she is an actress. “He said that he wouldn’t be able to marry me because I am an actress,” she rues.
