The National-Award winning actress is set to reprise the controversial character of Sasikala in the Kangana Ranaut-starrer Thalaivi.
Ever since Kangana Ranaut-starrer Thalaivi — a biopic on former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was announced, everyone has been wondering who would play the controversial role of Sasikala, the CM’s close aide. Now comes the news that actress Priyamani has been roped in for the role as the film’s director A.L. Vijay felt that the National Award winning actress would be an apt choice to play the part. Given that the film deals with emotions and depicts the interpersonal relationships of Jayalalithaa, the director felt that Priyamani could do full justice. A source informs, “Producer Vishnu Induri is making the film in three languages (Telugu, Tamil and Hindi), so he needed an actress with a pan-Indian appeal. Priyamani fits the bill perfectly.
Moreover, the director is confident that the actress will bring in her own style to the part.” Apparently, while the actress was excited to play the part when approached, she also found the character to be equally challenging. Since Sasikala played a huge role and impacted Jayalalithaa’s personal life, her role is expected to be key to the film’s narrative.
