Jiiva to star in Jagan's biopic?
Look test for the actor scheduled for next month
After the success of Yatra, the biopic of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, filmmaker Mahi V. Raghav has confirmed Yatra 2. It will be on Rajasekhar Reddy’s son Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the present Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. And we have learnt reliably that Tamil actor Jiiva has been approached to headline the film.
Apparently Mahi, who is currently basking in the glory of Save The Tigers web series, felt that while Jiiva resembles Jagan to an extent, he was also looking for an actor who could bring out the Chief Minister’s personality. And as Jiiva has delivered some convincing performance, Mahi felt he was the apt choice.
With hit films like Rangam in Telugu to his credit, filmmakers feel the Tamil actor can do justice to the characters he plays. A source in the know tells us that Jiiva has evinced interest in the part, but one has to wait and see how things go. Talks are on, and, if all goes well, pre-production will commence in July.
Yatra 2 will focus on Jagan’s defining padayatra (walkathon) which led him to coming to power as Chief Minister in 2019.
