Kushi Losing Steam After Good Openings at Box Office
The much-hyped love story Kushi starring Vijay Devarakona and Samantha has garnered good collections in the first weekend by drawing 17 cr net collections in the two Telugu states. "Monday collections are witnessing a drop in B& C centres, and it has a long way to go to break even," says a source.
The romantic drama opened big on the first day in A, B, and C centres all over Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, but by Saturday, it witnessed a fall in B and C centres. Even on Sunday, collections dipped further, added the source. It has to make another 12 to 14 crores to break even. Still, it looks difficult going by weak advance bookings and diminishing repeat audience how the film clocked over 7 crs in US markets." It did very well in the USA in the first weekend but now working days have started. We have to see how it goes about in the overseas market, he informs.
Despite songs turning out to be chartbusters, they cannot draw in repeat audiences. "Earlier just good songs used to draw in audiences, but those days have gone. Kushi boasts of good songs, grand locales, and beautiful pairs, but it is unable to pull in crowds. Maybe people enjoy the songs in their cars and at home, but not turning up in good numbers in theatres," he concludes.
However, Vijay Devarakona proved that he is a crowd-puller after not so impressive box-office performance of Liger. In all likelihood, he should have chosen a better script to revive his winning streak.
