Deepika Padukone has become a global sensation by pairing up with Vin Diesel in  xXx: The Return of Xander Cage; she has become one of the highest paid Indian celebrities with Padmavati. However, raised in Bengaluru, she is a true South Indian at heart.

Recently in the city for a promotional event, Deepika spoke about her childhood visit to Hyderabad. “I’ve come to Hyderabad quite a few times, but the first time I came here was during a school trip. I visited Charminar and bought beautiful bangles,” she remembers.

A most-sought after star in Bollywood and now in Hollywood, would she say no if Tollywood calls her? “If I am offered an interesting script, I would definitely consider taking it up. For me, language is only a medium to give shape to great content,” she says.

A star with many talents, Deepika has never been one to back away from challenges. So, she didn’t think twice when she was offered the opportunity to set foot in Hollywood.

The actress, who recently wrapped up her shoot for xXx: Return of Xander Cage, says, “It was great fun working with Vin Diesel and Ruby Rose. From Monday to Friday, we would shoot and during weekends, we would meet for dinner and just hang out. We got along really well despite never having worked with each other before. ”

She adds that she never differentiates between industries. “I don’t like dividing projects into Hollywood or Bollywood because the effort I put into every film is the same. I don’t look at it as two separate journeys. I look at it as an extension of my career,” Deepika says.

When asked about her contemporary Priyanka Chopra’s success in the US, Deepika says the first one who deserves such a recognition is Aishwarya Rai.

“For me, she is the torch-bearer for putting India on the global map. But everyone who managed to break through into the Western market, be it Anil (Kapoor), Irrfan (Khan), Priyanka, or myself, I think, we all have done a great job. We got this opportunity while working towards breaking the stereotypes. We focussed on being part of good content based on our talent and not the colour of our skin,” she concludes with a satisfied smile.
