There's no stopping Sundeep Kishan
The actor is looking forward to doing more entertaining roles in his upcoming projects.
Sundeep Kishan is in a happy space with multiple projects keeping him busy. However, there’s another reason for the actor’s elation — the most awaited film of his career C/o Surya, helmed by popular Tamil director Suseenthiran of Naa Peru Siva fame, which releases on November 10. Sundeep says, “Not many know that Suseenthiran is a Telugu guy; his forefathers were Telugu! The last two generations of his family settled in Chennai but he understands Telugu culture.”
Clarifying that his upcoming film isn’t a sequel to Naa Peru Siva, Sundeep says, “But you notice that my character in this film is an extension to Karthi from Naa Peru Siva. But this film isn’t intense and has been narrated in an entertaining way.” He adds, “Director Suseenthiran hails from a middle-class family, and this film’s story also revolves around a middle-class boy like him from Vizag.”
Interestingly, the actor-director duo were to work together earlier but things didn’t materialise. “It was a cricket-based story, but we couldn’t do it. However, we kept in touch. Last year, he narrated this story and I liked it,” he says.
Elaborating on his role in C/o Surya, he says, “After long, I’ve played my age. My strength is to play roles that are close to reality. In this film, I am a relatable boy-next-door.”
Mehreen Kaur Pirzada, who’s being called Tollywood’s new lucky mascot is the film’s female lead. Sundeep says, “She is very positive and that’s the nicest thing about her. I’ll be glad if her luck helps me taste success.”
Although Sundeep’s last film Nakshatram failed at the box office, it did not affect him or his passion for acting. “I don’t think there was a huge impact. Everyone knows that I did genuine work,” he says, adding that he has now learned what the audiences expect from him. “If you look at my earlier films, they are serious. People missed the ‘fun’ element in my old films. My upcoming films will have that,” reveals Sundeep.
Another one of the actor’s upcoming films stars Tamannaah and is being helmed by Kunal Kohli, who will be marking his Telugu debut with the project. Talking of Tamannaah, Sundeep shares, “She is such a good performer and most of the scenes are between us, so we interact a lot on sets. There are lengthy dialogues that we have to say in a single take. She works really hard to learn those dialogues. Working with her is very comfortable and we are good friends now ,” he says, adding that the film is a rom-com with urban sentiments and has been shot in London mostly.
Sundeep will also be seen in Manjula’s (Mahesh Babu’s sister) directorial debut. “It’s an entertaining love story,” the actor says. And that’s not all, the actor has also signed a film with director Karthik Naren starring Aravind Swamy alongside Karthik Ghattamaneni’s film that is touted to be a fantastical love story. Mayavan is ready to hit theatres soon too. “This is going to be a good time in my career. There are so many good projects lined up and I am putting in the best of my efforts,” he concludes.
