Contrary to the reports that Tamil dubbed movies will not get theaters in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during Sankranthi festival, a distributor says that the much-hyped Tamil film ‘Captain Miller’ starring reigning star Dhanush is bound to get some theatres in the two Telugu states. "With the makers of ‘Captain Miller’ insisting on releasing the film during the Pongal holidays, Telugu exhibitors could allot some shows for Dhanush’s period action adventure. For instance, if there are six shows in a theatre, ‘Guntur Kaaram’ will be screened for four shows, while 'Captain Miller' will get two shows from Jan 12 onwards," says a distributor.

The leading distributor asserts that the national award-winning actor has gained a fan following among Telugu viewers after the super-hit Telugu film ‘Sir’, so the Telugu exhibitors are accommodating the film despite big competition among Telugu films. "Dhanush could draw in openings since he will be seen in a new avatar and it is another different film from the talented actor," he points out.

"Dhanush would have fetched better price for the makers from the Telugu market but now they are content to release the film on a ‘sharing’ basis. As they fixed the release date as January 12 worldwide, they couldn’t defer the date for the Telugu version alone," he adds.

Realizing his rising popularity among Telugu viewers, Dhanush is doing more Telugu films. After doing the Telugu film ‘Sir,’ he is teaming up with Telugu directors like Sekhar Kammula for a big-ticket entertainer in Tollywood. "He will be expanding his fan base in Telugu states in the days to come," he concludes.
