Actor Sarath Babu bags Jaladi award

Visakhapatnam: ‘Jaladi Jathiya Puraskaralu’ (National Awards) established after the renowned songwriter Kalaprapurna Dr Jaladi will be organised by Jaladi Charitable Trust on August 9 at Kalabharathi Auditorium, said Vizag South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar. Talking to reporters here on Saturday, the MLA said that starting from this year achievers from different fields would be presented with National Awards ‘Jaladi Jeevan Saphalya Puraskaram’ (Lifetime Achievement Award).

An expert committee had handpicked versatile actor Sarath Babu for this prestigious award while popular singer Chandra Bose was chosen to receive ‘Jaladi Athmiya Puraskaram’. HRD minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, MLC Dr M.V.V.S. Murthy in the presence of popular film personalities and other dignitaries would present both the awards. In the honour of the great poet late Dr Jaladi Rajarao, his children Jaladi Vijaya and Jaladi Srinivasa Rao (J.S.Rao) established the Jaladi Charitable Trust and have been presenting several awards and doing social service for the last four years.

MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar and registrar of Andhra University Professor Velgapudi Uma Maheshwarao unveiled the logo of the event. Director P.C. Reddy, Kallu Raghu, Star-maker Lanka Sathyanand, songwriters Bhuvan Chander, Rasaraju, Adhrusta Deepak, Gurucharan. Sambashan, writers M.V.S. Harinath, Kasi Viswanath, producer Pokuri Baburao, actress Archana were among the people who earlier received Jaladi awards said Dr Jaladi Vijaya, the founder president of Jaladi Charitable Trust. “We are working tirelessly to fulfill our father’s dream,” she said. The ceremony would have a musical concert with handpicked songs written by the treasure trove of folk Jaladi.
