All's not well between Boyapati Srinu and Danayya
Relations between the director and producer have hit an all-time low.
The debacle of Ram Charan’s recent release Vinaya Vidheya Rama seems to have set off an ugly spat between director Boyapati Srinu and producer D.V.V. Danayya.
Sources close to the project say that director Boyapati has been giving “major grief” to the producer regarding compensating the buyers of their film, who apparently incurred losses of around Rs 30 crore. As a goodwill gesture, the filmmakers — including the producer, director and actor, decided to compensate 50% of the total amount, with each agreeing to contribute Rs 5 crore.
While Danayya and Ram Charan paid up their respective amounts, Boyapati Srinu, who initially expressed his willingness to pay, is no longer keen, and worse, is in no mood to budge either. Arguing that the film was sold for a higher price than it was supposed to be, the director feels that the buyers have anyway incurred losses. A source close to the development informs, “Relations between Danayya and Boyapati seem to be strained, and have hit an all-time low. What started as a conversation eventually turned into a heated argument, much to their mortification.”
