Shanvi's oriental adventure
The actress, who will be seen in a Chinese web series, is mighty impressed with the country.
The relationship between India and China may be rocky., but it’s quite the opposite when it comes to the film industries of the two countries. As Indian films are getting hugely popular in China, our artistes too are getting pampered there. Vouching for this is actress Shanvi, who debuted opposite Aadi in Lovely.
“I worked with Chinese actors for a web series. The hospitality, the respect and the way they treated me was superb. Certain parts were shot on the road and so many people came and clicked pictures with me. Everyone was very friendly,” says Shanvi.
She plays the role of an Indian princess who goes to China and takes a liking for the culture. “It’s a 12-part web series and I am in seven episodes,” says Shanvi, adding that she got this chance through a Malaysian coordinator
“They held several auditions. I sent a short video with a few Chinese dialogues. Then, they selected me,” says the actress.
In fact, Sunny Leone had auditioned for the role. “But they selected me. I was supposed to stay for more than ten days, but I completed my work in seven days. They appreciated my grasping power,” she reveals.
The actress had an unforgettable experience in China. “They erected a big emperor’s set and I gave my first shot there. There was no discrimination, so I sometimes wondered if there really is any tension between the two countries,” she says.
Shanvi approached the project the same way she did her South Indian films. “When I first did a Telugu film, I learnt quickly. Other than the language, everything else in filmmaking is almost the same. We’re not very different from them, but I feel they are more hardworking and focused than us,” she says.
The four-film-old actress in Tollywood is now busy with Kannada films. “It’s been a long time. I’m eagerly looking for Telugu projects. I have a soft corner for Tollywood,” says the actress. Her recent Kannada film Tarak is getting good reviews and she’s also in talks for a Hindi film.
