Dimple Kapadia and Rishi Kapoor from the film, Bobby

Remember the iconic scene that introduces Dimple Kapadia in Raj Kapoor’s 1973-film, Bobby? She opens the door to find a surprised-looking Rishi Kapoor gazing at her rather smitten, with a smile playing on his face. As he expresses wonder on meeting her there, a rather impatient Dimple asks where else she was meant to be as she brushes away strands of hair off her forehead using a batter-laden palm. Then she asks him to quickly list his business there because she’d left oil in a pan on the fire!

Raj Kapoor had revealed long ago that he had conceived that scene based on how he’d met Nargis (with whom he was in a relationship) in real life too.

Now, filmmaker V.N. Aditya has emulated that iconic scene in his forthcoming movie, Valliddari Madhya, starring Viraj Ashwin and Neha Krishna. “The director is a huge fan of Bobby and has been apparently trying to conceive that scene in his earlier films too, but it never materialised,” informs a source. “While that introduction scene was the first shot for Dimple Kapadia on screen, the same scene will be the first shot of Neha in this film too.” Calling it a coincidence, another source from the unit shares, “The director was actually supposed to shoot another scene on Neha the day before, but her flight was delayed, and she was tired by the time she came to the sets. So this Bobby scene, which was planned for the next day in the schedule, was shot straightway as she looked fresh.”
