Guntur Kaaram Must Collect Rs 225 crore Gross to Break Even?
With buzz around superstar Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film ‘Guntur Kaaram’ rising by the day, the makers are said to have sold the film for more than Rs 104 crore in the two Telugu states. They have reportedly closed the deals at Rs 42 crore for Nizam region, Rs 48 crore for Andhra and Rs 14 crores for Ceded.
Adding to it, they got Rs 9 crore from the theatrical business in other states in South. Along with Rs 21 crore for overseas rights. "It has to definitely surpass Rs 225 crores gross collections worldwide to make Rs 135 crore net collections to break-even. It is the highest business for a Mahesh Babu film in recent times,” says a source.
Distributors in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are jubilant for pre-release hype and advance bookings since festival holidays begin from January 12. “The film is set for sensational openings and expected to make Rs 40 crore on Day One and is expected to make Rs 80 odd crores during festival holidays,” he points out.
Earlier, realizing the rising popularity of Mahesh Babu, the makers even reshoot a couple's fights and scenes to enhance the quality of the film and reach to the rising expectations. "Even an 18 day action episode was reshot and also songs were made on lavish scale since they didn’t want to compromise on any aspect," he adds.
No doubt, Mahesh Babu is truly banking on this action-centric entertainer to regale his fans and also to draw in sensational openings to give his rivals a run for their money. "He is expecting to gross the Rs 200 crore mark and outwit his rivals. He has a huge following in varied cities in the US and also expanding to Tamil Nadu," he points out.
