Taapsee Pannu takes a dig at Raghavendra Rao
The actress appeared on a comedy show where she made fun of her midriff scene in Raghavendra Rao's film.
In 2010, Taapsee Pannu had come into the limelight during the grand launch of Jhummandi Naadam directed by Raghavendra Rao. She even became the pinup girl overnight and the talk of the town with her sensuous avatar. Recently, the actress made sarcastic remarks about the same role while making an appearance in a stand-up comedy show. Her remarks have gone viral and have left a few fans of the director disgruntled.
Taapsee said, “The director who launched me is known to have the Midas’ touch in terms of launching actresses. He had launched Sridevi and Jayasudha... It was his 105th movie with me. He’s known to show the sensuality of the heroine by showing the midriff and throwing fruits and flowers at it. I was prepared for it... In fact, I saw lots of videos... But, when my turn came, maybe because my midriff wasn’t quite ready, they threw a coconut on me!” This made many people in the audience roar with laughter. Taapsee further remarked, “I don’t know what is so sensuous about a coconut hitting my midriff!”
In fact, as a song from the film played showing the particular sequence, Taapsee hid her face and said, “Guys, please don’t judge me by this.” Soon after the video was circulated on all social media platforms, many of the director’s fans called the actress ungrateful for making fun of the person who launched her. While there were also many people who agreed with her statements, the brickbats greatly outnumbered the plaudits.
