Ravi Teja is back with a bang
The actor talks about his small break and why he is coming up with two back-to-back projects.
Telugu cinema’s Mass Maharaja, Ravi Teja, is back after a brief pause. He has begun shooting for two back-to-back films, both of which will release this year. Taking time off from his double-shooting schedule, the actor explained his break and the reason why he took up two offers. “My last release was Bengal Tiger which was an out-and-out masala film. After that, I didn’t work on any film for more than a year. The scripts that came to me were not something that I liked. Then I heard the script of Touch Chesi Chudu and Raja The Great and both had a good concept. I didn’t want to let go of either. So I said yes to both,” says Ravi.
But he had made it clear in the past that he will not work on more than one project at a time. He says, “I did say that and I even did that. That’s the way actors in Bollywood and here in Telugu cinema work. But when I liked both the films, why should I not say yes, when I’ve said no to so many scripts recently? Also, I am not shooting them together. Most of the shooting for Touch Chesi Chudu will be over by March after which I only devote time to Raja The Great.”
Ravi Teja is particularly thrilled about Touch Chesi Chudu. “I am working with a new director Vikram Sirikonda. It is exciting to create cinema with new talent. Vikram is a writer first, and now a director. I like working with writers-turned-directors, they know how to visualise scripts in the best way. Vikram has new ideas about entertainment which I am sure will take Telugu cinema ahead,” he says.
