Good response, but poor collections for NTR's film
Surprisingly, NTR biopic hasn't had a great opening.
Collections so far for the film Kathanayakudu, a biopic on NTR’s life, have been poor. According to the trade analysts, the film was sold out for Rs 55 crore for the theatrical rights, but till now, the collections are a mere Rs 10 crore. Balakrishna played his best as his father in this film directed by Krish, but the box-office collections till day four are worrisome. “The film released on Wednesday, which is generally an odd day, but the makers are hopeful with the festival weekend collections may go up,” says a source.
Interestingly, apart from Kathanayakudu, there are two other films starring veteran actors Rajinikanth and Venkatesh that are competing with Balakrishna’s film. Rajinikanth’s film Petta has not shown any impact, but Venkatesh’s film has got positive reviews.
“With Ram Charan’s film proving to be bad, it’s going to be Balakrishna vs Venkatesh in the coming days and Venky has the edge,” feels the analysts.
