Vamshi out of Akhil's project?
While Akhil wants a remake of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Vamshi doesn't want to do one so soon after Oopiri.
Impressed by Vamshi’s skilful handling of his hit film Oopiri, Nagarjuna had announced that the director would work with his son Akhil for the latter’s second film.
Vamshi had given in to the pressure and had agreed to work with Akhil, whose debut film, Akhil, had failed. But things did not go as planned. A source said that while Nagarjuna liked the story Vamshi narrated, Akhil wanted to do the remake of the Bollywood film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Vamshi, however, rejected it immediately.
“Vamsi Paidipalli doesn’t want to do a remake again, as his Oopiri was a remake of the French film The Intouchbles. So he politely rejected Akhil’s idea. But Akhil was adamant as he had loved the Hindi film. Vamshi then said that he would, in that case, withdraw from the project,” added the source.
The pressure is thus now on Nagarjuna. If he goes with Akhil’s idea, he needs to look for another director. Else he needs to convince Akhil to work with Vamshi on a fresh subject.
