Actress Hamsa Nandini on Spiritual Pursuit
Popular actress Hamsa Nandini, who was seen in Telugu movies like ‘Loukyam’, ‘Rudrammadevi’ and ‘Jai Lava Kusa’ has embarked on a spiritual journey these days. She has realized ‘living in the moment’ is more precious than worrying about the past and future. She claims that her stint at the revered Jaggi Vasudev ashram has changed her perspective on life. She shares her thoughts with Deccan Chronicle
It looks like you have embarked on a spiritual journey?
I have always been a spiritual-inclined person in the process of discovering myself for quite a long time. I was also following the renowned Jiddu Krishnamurthy. But when I stepped into Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev ashram, I had a kind of new realization. In fact, Sadhguru has opened my eyes in terms of seeking happiness outside and urged me to look within which changed my perspective about life. I am experiencing positive feelings and it has enriched my soul.
But human beings have the habit of worrying about the past& future
We need to overcome that habit to lead a serene life and avoid sleepless nights. Anything other than this will be a wasted effort in a spiritual quest. He also taught me about ‘living in the moment’ is more important since it is impossible to change the past nor it is easy to predict the future, so it is better to focus on day-to-day life with more compassion and love. After a long time, I have begun to smile wholeheartedly and it is a great takeaway from my religious stint.
It seems that you have taken a break from Telugu films
I am discussing a few projects with Telugu filmmakers and I’ll be soon signing on the dotted line for a big-ticket project. As I have done some special numbers in Telugu movies like ‘Mirchi’ and ‘Legend’, I am also getting dancing offers and I am looking into it. I adore the Telugu audience because they always liked my work and I wish to come back very soon.
You aren’t seen on OTT platforms either?
I do have not anything on OTT and just looking for the right opportunity. I am a binge-watcher and enjoyed watching a few Hindi and English web series. Without a doubt, digital space has opened up doors for actresses who want to explore varied roles. I'll also try my hand if I get the right role and script.
