Mahesh Babu's Spyder event in Chennai drew bigger turnout than Tamil stars' films?
Interestingly, Simhasanam was Mahesh Babu's father, Krishna's directorial debut and the film became a sensation at that time.
Few days back, Mahesh Babu attended the music launch of his upcoming film Spyder in Chennai. Interestingly, this was the first time that the actor promoted his film in the city. Hence, while the organisers expected a small crowd to attend the do, a huge crowd turned up much to their surprise.
“It reminds me of the 100 day function of Simhasanam that was held in Chennai in 1986, when there was a huge turnout and even the police worked hard to control the traffic at that time,” says a source from the industry. Interestingly, Simhasanam was Mahesh Babu’s father, Krishna’s directorial debut and the film became a sensation at that time.
And now, some similar forces worked at Mahesh Babu’s launch, which surprised the Tamil film industry. A producer at the event mentioned, “Recently, many big Tamil stars held their film functions, but they never saw such a huge turnout.”
