Prashanth Podogatlapalli: New kid on the block

Prashanth Podogatlapalli joined the Ramanaidu Film School to learn filmmaking. But, as luck would have it, he joined his senior, Yakub Ali, for his independent film Vellipomake, as one of the main characters. His character, Kishore, is being much talked about. “When we started off, I never really thought that I would act in this film. Several people had been considered for the role, but since I was working in the direction department, things worked out for me and I took it up at the last minute,” Prashanth explains. He recalls, “Since it’s an independent film, we had limited resources. In one shot, I would be holding the lights and in the next, I would be in front of the camera.”
He is very happy with the response he’s been getting. “The best compliment was when a person told me that he wished to have a friend like me,” he says. An electrical engineer from Vizag, Prashanth cherished cinema since childhood. “I worked in the sales department of a company in Bangalore briefly, before I decided cinema was my calling,” he shares. Even though he has now plunged into the world of acting, Prashanth says that his dream of directing films is still alive. “I want to do both. I have decided to approach producers with stories I have written. Let’s see how it goes,” he says.
