Did Deverakonda ghost-direct World Famous Lover?
Poor reactions for much-touted film.
Vijay Deverakonda’s latest film World Famous Lover opened to poor reactions from audiences and critics this week. Though his performance has come in for praise, the script and direction have been panned as muddled and below expectations.
Apparently, director Kranthi Madav and Vijay Deverakonda couldn’t see eye-to-eye on the project. Sources say the director and his lead actor had a massive fall-out mid-way through the making of World Famous Lover.
“They just couldn’t gel. Vijay, who is always an active participant from behind the camera in all his movies, was not on the same page as his director. The film’s episodes shaped up very differently from how Vijay imagined them. Yes, it would be correct to say Vijay was disappointed. He finally had to take control”, said the source.
Apparently, Vijay personally re-shot several passages of the film, making us wonder if he will officially turn to directing soon.
The credit for the final shape given to World Famous Lover then goes to its leading man. But the fact remains that the film falls short of audience expectations. The general feeling is that Vijay Deverakonda needs to reinvent himself rather than play variations of Arjun Reddy in film after film.
