One Friday changed his fortunes
Ravikanth Perepu, director of the hit film Kshanam, is the most sought after director now.
He was just another Andhra-based wannabe filmmaker, who hoped to strike it big one day, until that Friday dawned. It was the day his directorial debut Kshanam was released, and overnight, Ravikanth Perepu became one of the most-sought-after filmmakers in Telugu.
The soft-spoken filmmaker seems quite taken aback by the quick turn of events that transformed his life.
Says Ravikanth, “Everything worked in favour of Kshanam — from the script to the casting, pre-production to post-production, the editing, music... I was confident because of the script.”
“When we saw the trailer, my team and I knew it was going to make an impact.” Ravikanth admits the film’s real hero was the script as Adivi Shesh, the official leading man of Kshanam, had no track record to boast of.
“We relied completely on our faith in the script. We made the film in a budget of Rs 1.08 crore". Ravikanth is already working on his next — a love story. “I am writing a couple of scripts now, but I haven’t zeroed in on anything yet. It’s going to be a love story, that I am sure of.”
