Adivi Sesh moves on
The actor was hopeful of making his B-wood debut with the Hindi remake of his hit film Kshanam. But it was not to be!
The Hindi remake of Kshanam does not star the mystery thriller’s leading man, Adivi Sesh, who not only helmed the film but also co-wrote its screenplay. And therefore when producer Sajid Nadiadwala bought the film’s Hindi remake rights, it was understandably presumed that the film would mark Adivi’s Bollywood debut.
However, when the project was officially announced, titled Baaghi 2, it starred Nadiadwala’s protégé, Tiger Shroff in the role of an NRI who returns home after learning that his former girlfriend’s daughter has been kidnapped. Naturally, Sesh is unhappy about the turn of events but tries to hide his disappointment. “Tiger is by now a well-known actor in Hindi cinema. My body of work so far has been in the South. Besides, how Sajid sahib wants Kshanam to be remade is his prerogative. My goal is to keep delivering resonant performances,” says the 31-year-old actor.
Looking at the brighter side of things, he further says, “I am happy with how my new film, the spy thriller Goodachari has shaped up. It feels good. It’s something new… something I haven’t attempted before. It is tonally very different. Kshanam was darker. Goodachari is more ambitious. It is a personal story that’s being told on a bigger scale than Kshanam. Also, the plot spreads itself across South Asia. In India, we shot in South Delhi, Assam, Meghalaya and some seaports of Bangladesh. All in all, I am happy!”
It may be of interest to note that Sesh isn’t the only Telugu actor who has faced disappointment at the hands of Sajid. For the Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster Kick, the original lead, Ravi Teja also felt he was perfect. But Sajid preferred his buddy, superstar Salman Khan for the film, which turned out to be a superhit.
