Ending months of speculation, director S.S. Rajamouli has confirmed that Alia Bhatt will star in his Telugu-Hindi bilingual RRR. Apparently, it was Karan Johar who convinced Alia to do a Telugu film even if she didn’t know the language.

The actress has been having a dream run so far, with several blockbusters to her credit. Having begun this year with super hit Gully Boy, it’s time for the Karan Johar-produced Kalank in April, followed by Rajamouli’s film. Alia tweeted, “Today I feel truly truly grateful.. Cannot wait to begin this beautiful journey with this stellar cast and massive team.. thank you @ssrajamouli sir for giving me this opportunity to be directed by you (sic).”

Alia is very excited about working in the south. “I can’t hope for anything more,” says Alia, adding, “But it’s scary when people keep reminding me of how much I have (achieved). Honestly, no amount is enough. Even though I am working with the best directors, I am still looking for more.”

Ask if she has anyone on her wish list, Alia quickly responds, “I would love to work with Mr Bhansali and I am waiting to be directed by my father (Mahesh Bhatt). That would be the ultimate dream-come-true.”
