Glad that Saranga Dariya is widely appreciated: Mangli
In her interview, singer Mangli talks about her latest super hit song Saranga Dariya
Singer Mangli’s latest track Saranga Dariya (lyrical song) from the film Love Story has set a new record in South cinema. It has clocked 50 million hits on YouTube in two weeks, beating Butta Bomma from Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikuntapuram Lo.
Expressing happiness over the success, Mangli says she’s overwhelmed with the response. She, however, says she expected the song to do well. “When I heard the lyrics my gut feeling was that the number is going to be viral. I am glad it is trending and topping many charts,” says Mangli, adding that it was team effort — Pawan’s peppy rendition, Suddala Ashok Teja garu’s lyrics, Sai Pallavi’s dance moves and Sekhar’s wonderful picturisation —that made it possible.
Mangli is a name to reckon with when it comes to independent albums. Her video songs on special occasions like Bathukamma, Bonalu and Sankranti, her songs on Lord Siva, Telangana Formation Day, Ugadi, Sammakka Sarakka Jatara and many others have been great hits on YouTube.
“I love to sing for both independent albums and films. Singing is my passion and I have been blessed to sing some super hit numbers; all thanks to the audience for their appreciation,” she says, adding that she is always grateful for filmmakers who gave her the opportunities.
“Who doesn’t want to sing film songs? But I want to strike a balance between the two,” Mangli says, but stresses that it was the independent songs that brought her fame.
“I never thought I would become a singer,” she reveals, adding, “My father was a good singer, so I used to hum along with him. The Rural Development Trust (RDT) identified my singing skills and encouraged me to pursue it. Then I studied SV Music and Dance College, Tirupati, and later moved to Hyderabad and started singing independent songs.” Mangli, is also a classical singer.
She shares that she never expected to touch such heights.
“It just happened. I never planned anything and never thought I would come this far. I kept on working hard and was sincere in my efforts. God was kind and I have been blessed to sing numbers which went on to become superhits.”
She attributes her success to her parents. “They have been very encouraging and made me pursue my interests,” she says, adding that there were others too, who supported her on various parts of her journey.
Mangli, who has also crooned popular numbers like Ramuloo Ramulaa from Ala Vaikuntapuram Lo and Kanne Adhirindhi from Robert, states that the success made her more responsible. “The fact that I have been singing in various genres is giving me a lot of satisfaction, and is also encouraging me to further excel,” she says signing off.
