Samantha back on a signing spree!
Actress Samantha signs on two bilinguals
Perhaps no one knows better than Samantha on how to keep it going! After turbulent times on the personal front, the actress has signed two yet-to-be-titled bilingual (Telugu and Tamil) films.
The announcements of her two new films came on the auspicious day of Dasara. While debutant Shantaruban Gnanasekharan’s film is a breezy and different love story, another film, a concept-based one, is being helmed by Hari Shankar and Hareesh Narayan and produced by Sivalenka Krishna Prasad.
Talking about his film, Krishna Prasad shares that he’s excited to see Samantha in a new avatar in his film. “I can’t tell you the genre but I can tell you the story is unique,” says the filmmaker, adding that Hari Shankar and Hareesh Narayan wrote this unique script. “When they narrated the story, I was instantly hooked; their storytelling and execution of ideas were refreshing,” says Krishna Prasad.
“Since both wrote the story, I believe that together they can better transform it onto the screen. Also, both directors have clarity on where to draw the line in creative differences,” he says. Asked whose idea it was to get Samantha on board, Krishna Prasad says, “It was a collective decision.”
“Somehow, I thought Samantha garu can do justice to this role, and they too felt the same. After the story was ready, we narrated it to her. She gave the nod immediately,” he says, adding that the actress was kicked about her new character. The film is set to go on the floors next month and the remaining cast and crew are being finalised.
