Hundreds of books and articles have been published on the old classic Mayabazar, which is considered one of the greatest films in Indian cinema. One such is by writer Pulagam Chinnanarayana, whose book, Mayabazar Madhura Smruthulu, features interviews of people who worked on the film. “It was not easy as some of them were in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Chennai. So, I had to travel to all these places to interview them. Most of them were nearly 80 years old and spoke very slowly, but still, I was able to capture their memories about the film,” says the writer, who also reveals that while some people passed away after the interviews, Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, who worked as an assistant director for Mayabazar, is still living.

B Viswanatha Reddy, the son of B Nagi Reddy, the producer of Mayabazar and also the man behind Vijaya Productions, is the backbone of this book. Not only did he fund the interviews of all the people in the book, but he released a video too.
