‘What’s life without adventure?’
Go for it, says Regina Cassandra
As much as Regina Cassandra embraces the camera, she loves adventure too. The actress will be competing in one of the most gruelling and challenging races in India — The Wild Warrior Himalayan Adventure Race, ‘30 for 30 Challenge’ — in Uttarakhand on December 12. “That’s on my birthday’s eve,” smiles Regina, who will be turning 30.
The whole objective of the initiative is to spread awareness about Haemophilia and Cancer, and raise funds to support at least 30 children. “Ever since the pandemic struck, all of us were down and none of us knew what to do. The one thing that was removed from all our life was ‘purpose’. Nothing can be achieved without a sense of purpose. So I thought I could contribute something through this initiative because I have not taken up any such challenge earlier,” says Regina.
Apparently, the actress was the winner of the Wild Warrior Duathlon (Run and Bike) in Bengaluru in 2018.
“After all, what’s life without being adventurous?” she asks, when we quizzed her about her other sporting pursuits, including taking surfing lessons. “I have always been passionate about exploring new and interesting things, and surfing was one of the many dreams on my bucket list. I had learnt the basics of surfing at the Kovalam Surfing School in Kerala last year,” says Regina.
Apparently, the Evaru star has now picked up stand-up paddle-boarding. “I know it takes a lot of practice to go to the next level in surfing. But I didn’t have time because of my shooting schedules. So when we entered the unlocking phase I started surfing again at the Muttukadu lake. I am glad that I picked up stand-up paddle,” Regina said.
The actress admits that she is a beach person and she loves spending time out at sea. “I’d like to get lost in the middle of the ocean, whenever the ocean is at its best,” she beams, and stresses that she likes to do all things that satisfy her craving for adventure.
“Adventure has been a way of my life,” she explains – “be it solo travelling or any water sport. I am very impulsive and that’s how I have been. Being adventurous pushed me to try different things whilst discovering several things in the process.” She also reveals that she’s a nature-lover too.
“If your soul is longing for adventure, go for it,” she signs off.
