Malayalam films are much in demand in Telugu, and several of them have been turned into successful Telugu remakes like Drushyam and Premam. Now, many are looking to dub some of the Malayalam films into Telugu.

Take the case of producer Gururaj, who bought the Telugu rights of a small Malayalam film Anandam that was released in 2016.

“Many approached me to remake the film in Telugu, but I decided against it as it may get spoilt. We decided to dub the film in Telugu instead,” says Gururaj.

The film’s original budget is Rs 4 crore and it collected nearly Rs 20 crore in Malayalam.

“The story has a college backdrop and most of the artistes are new to the industry. Nivin Pauly of Premam fame did a cameo and the film did very well,” he says, adding that it was directed by Ganesh Raj.
